We would like to work with takeaway businesses throughout Bradford district to help them create healthier options on their menus. The Living Well takeaways site will give you all the information needed to know what support is available as well as how to get involved.

The local chamber of commerce provides access to a legal advice telephone line and a HR advice line for its members; as well as access to general business support.
The Federation of Small Businesses offer a range of benefits to its members such as health and safety advice, legal advice, support for physical and mental health conditions and online training. The Federation of Small Businesses also run a Good Business Charter.
The BitC website includes an incredibly vast range of toolkits that workplaces can use to create healthier workplaces. Topics include being an age friendly employer, supporting carers in the workplace, tackling supplier emissions and many others.
Please note, some are restricted to members only, however there is still a large range of toolkits that can be downloaded for free.
The HSE website contains information about health and safety legislation, guidance, risk assessment and training. It includes information on topics such as personal protective equipment, ventilation, lone working, home working and mental health.
The Mental Health at Work website includes a vast repository of resources and toolkits on a wide range of mental health related topics. There are also resources aimed at specific sectors.
The FSB have partnered with the Good Business Charter to adapt the accreditation and make it more accessible for companies with less than 50 employees.
The Good Business Charter is a simple accreditation which organisations in the UK can sign up to in recognition of responsible business practices.
This includes meeting criteria related to: the real living wage; fairer hours and contracts; employee wellbeing and more.
The real Living Wage is paid by over 7,000 UK businesses who believe their staff deserve a wage which meets everyday needs, like the weekly shop, or a surprise trip to the dentist. The real Living Wage rates are higher because they are independently calculated based on what people need to get by.
Businesses that join 1% for the planet commit to giving 1% of gross sales to approved non profit environmental partners. Staff can also join as individual members to give 1% of their salary.
The Armed Forces Covenant represents a promise that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly. Signing the covenant means that you are supporting your employees as reservists and veterans. Employers can choose specific promises or pledges to support their employees within the armed forces community.
Taking part in the Refill scheme involves offering a free tap water refill of a member of the public’s drinking bottle, they do not have to be a customer. Participating businesses simply sign up to the app and put a sticker in their window, alerting passers-by that they’re welcome to come on in and get a refill.
The scheme helps employers to support and recognise the roles of their employees who foster. Members of the scheme agree to put in place a fostering friendly HR policy for all foster carers in their employment. This includes offering foster carers flexible working and paid time off for training and settling a new child into their home.
The Breastfeeding Welcome scheme encourages businesses to promote that they support breastfeeding. They can do this by signing up to the scheme. This involves signing up to the ‘breastfeeding welcome policy’, ensuring staff are aware of the policy and displaying a sticker and charter to promote that you are breastfeeding friendly. The scheme is free to join.
The Disability Confident scheme supports employers like you to make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to your workplace. It has been used by many organisations in the UK, and it covers 11 million employees. The scheme is voluntary and access to the guidance, good practice and resources is completely free.
