It affects women who haven’t been affected by diabetes before and it usually goes away after giving birth. Women who have had gestational diabetes are at higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Healthier You NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme
If you have a history of gestational diabetes, you may be eligible for a place on the Healthier You NHS Diabetes Prevention programme. If you are eligible, your GP practice can refer you or you can refer yourself.
