Walking groups and volunteer groups:

Bradford CHA Rambling and Social Club

Offers walks most weekends and holidays throughout the year. Walks are available at varying difficulty. Also offers social nights – a fabulous way to keep fit while socialising with other members. All walks are accessible with or without a car.

Bradford Ramblers

Regular group walks are a great way to experience the outdoors and explore new places safely and in good company. You’ll get a warm welcome from experienced walk leaders and like-minded walkers.

Mid Week Wayfarers

A mid-week walking club in Yorkshire for folk who enjoy walking, socialising and, above all, having fun. Six different groups that walk Monday to Thursday for between 3 and 10 miles.

Well Together Service

Provides a range of interesting, sociable, health-led activities – including walking groups –  that are free and run across Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven, in wheelchair-accessible venues.

This trail is just over 5km and takes in some peaceful areas of the city in a circular route just north of Bradford Cathedral.

Airenteers

Airienteers is the orienteering club of Airedale and Wharfedale which covers the districts of Leeds, Bradford and Craven.  Airienteers promote orienteering both for leisure and as a competitive sport.

Find Your Way project

The ‘Find Your Way’ project is funded by Sport England and aims to get more people engaged and active in their local spaces through virtual orienteering activities.

There are also ‘traditional’ permanent courses open at Ilkley Moor, Middleton Woods Ilkley, Penistone Hill and Northcliffe Park.

Services and organised activities:

Dance for Life

Dance for Life is a Bradford based project that offers classes, workshops, after school clubs, performance opportunities, a dance company and dance training schemes across the Bradford district in many different styles of dance.

BEEP (Bradford Encouraging Exercise in People)

BEEP is an exercise referral programme aimed at people 16 years and over who:

  • do very little or no physical activity
  • have a long term medical or mental health condition and would benefit from exercise
  • and/or a BMI of 25 or above
  • are at risk of developing cardiovascular disease

The BEEP programme encourages and supports individuals to become more active, more often with a 52 week follow-up support service.

You can ask your local GP practice or health professional to refer you.

Bradford Park Runs

Parkruns are free, weekly, community events held in parks across the district each weekend. You can also find junior parkruns.
