10 Tips to be more active

Running in Wet Weather

The health benefits of regular exercise and physical activity are hard to ignore. Everyone benefits from exercise, regardless of age, gender or physical ability.

Exercise can help you to maintain a healthy weight and can improve your mental health.

Staying active in all weathers can be a challenge. The Living Well team recommend the following ideas to build these activities into your day-to-day life:

  1. Walk or cycle part of your journey to work or the shops
  2. Get off before your usual bus stop to walk part of the way
  3. If you drive, park further away from your workplace and walk or cycle the rest of the way
  4. Go for a walk or cycle with your friend rather than meeting for coffee
  5. Set an alarm on your phone to move every 30mins
  6. Reward yourself when you reach activity goal
  7. Try to fit in exercise before or after work, or even during your lunch break
  8. Lots of gardening can provide a good workout
  9. Exercise in front of the TV
