Long Term Conditions & Self Care

Self-care is about looking after you in a healthy way. It can be anything from brushing your teeth, doing some exercise, managing common conditions (like headaches, colds and flu) or living with a long-term health problem, such as: Diabetes, COPD, Hypertension, Cardiovascular disease, Cancer, mental health.

It is important that when getting healthy and staying healthy, we also have a balanced diet. This means eating a wide variety of healthy foods: plenty of fruit and vegetables and cutting down on foods that are high in saturated fat, sugar and salt.

Keep active; there are many ways to keep fit for everyone. This does not mean you have to go to the gym. You could try walking, gardening or swimming.

Look after your mind, your mental wellbeing is just as important as your physical health
Make time for yourself to relax and do the things you like. Do things that make you laugh, maybe watch a funny film or spend time with friends and family.
