Living Well is an initiative led by Bradford Council Public Health and NHS Bradford and Craven Health and Care Partnership working collaboratively in partnership with a wide range of key stakeholders and community groups . It aims to address the rising levels of obesity and reduce the high levels of early and preventable deaths within the district. We want to make the healthy choice the easy choice for people in Bradford District.
Physical, emotional and mental wellbeing can be affected by choices we make and the communities where we live, work, play and learn. Living Well brings together partners in our communities to help us to understand the challenges people face when trying to make healthier choices. The Living Well approach is to enable everyone to work together to make it easier for people living in our district to overcome these challenges.
Living Well provides information, advice and support to create an environment that encourages and empowers people in Bradford district to eat well, move more and maintain good mental wellbeing
The Living Well website is a source of information for lots of health related subjects. There is a quiz section which covers a range of health topics which can help you to see areas where you might want to make changes. You can create an account to save your quiz results and also set personal goals with actions along the way.
You can access our Living Well Services: Living Well Advisers, BEEP Exercise referral, help to quit smoking, weight management support and the Children and Families Adviser service. There’s also lots of information about local community groups, services and activities in the resources section.

Living Well Advisors offer free, friendly advice and non-judgemental support for people who may need a little extra help to start making lifestyle changes. They can help you decide where to start, or what to do next, offer motivation to keep you on track and signpost you to useful resources and services.

There are lots of options available across Bradford district to help people quit smoking. You can speak to your GP, visit pharmacies or speak to our Living Well Advisors. They all offer a free, personal service that will help you to quit, using a variety of options to find what works best for you.

Bradford Encouraging Exercise in People (BEEP) is a physical activity referral service that encourages and supports people to become more active more often.

We are offering 12-weeks FREE membership to a weight loss programme, for anyone who would like to lose weight in a safe and healthy way. This is available to people who live in Bradford district are aged 18 or over and have a BMI of 25 or more.

The Children and Families Living Well Service accept referrals for children aged 2-19 who are above a healthy weight. The service have friendly, trained advisors who offer 6 home-based sessions to parents of children under the age of 13 or can work more directly with children aged 13 or over. The team is supported by a registered mental health nurse and dietitian. They will encourage you and your family to take positive steps which are right for you, supporting you to identify changes that will help the whole family work towards goals such as eating well, moving well, sleeping well and feeling mentally well.
Our campaigns are aimed at people living and working in Bradford district. We want to make it easier for them to live healthier, more active lives and our innovative campaigns are designed to show people how to get started and find local support.
