Ready, set, grow!

We’re pleased to announce the launch of the new Grow Well to Eat Well campaign. It follows the great success of the Swap Well to Eat Well campaign.

The first stage of the campaign is aimed at local partners, organisations and workplaces where we are offering the opportunity for you to grow fruit trees on your site!

Almost everyone in Bradford needs to be eating more fruit and vegetables. Growing fruit in our communities is a simple way of increasing the availability of free, healthy fruit.

This offer is for community groups, resident associations, and businesses with a bit of land for planting trees into the ground. It needs to be your land with the appropriate permission to plant fruit trees.

The second stage of this campaign is offering seed kits to households and individual residents to grow their own food at home – Find out more

The site you have in mind has to be in Bradford District. It needs to be ground with a layer of at least 40 cm of top soil and not create any problems for your neighbours.

Successful applicants will be given 3-6 medium-sized apple, pear and plum trees which will grow to a maximum height of 4 metres and should be spaced 5 metres apart. Cages to protect the trees can be provided if necessary. As well as delivering the trees, Fruit Works Co-operative will give successful applicants a briefing and demonstration of how to plant the trees.

Fruit Works Co-operative will deliver the trees to successful applicants in March and April 2024.

The online application form is HERE.

If you need any advice before applying,  online briefings are taking place on Mon 26th February 1:30-2:30 and Tue 27th February 7pm-8pmClick HERE to book.

The deadline for applications is Friday 8th March 2024. Applications will be chosen on their merits and the trees will be divided out amongst the applicants.
