Adults of all ages

Being physically active can prevent or delay many health problems that can affect us later in life.

The 20 Minute Movement for adults of all ages encourages us to be active for 20 minutes every day. It’s also important to break up long periods of sitting down (or sedentary behaviour) by moving around regularly.

People with long term conditions can also find ways to be active safely, find out more with our free BEEP (Bradford Encouraging Exercise in People) exercise referral service.

Walking is a great activity for everyone, whatever your age or ability.

Lots of different activities can count towards your 20 minutes each day. You could walk or cycle all or part of your way to work, get off the bus or train a stop earlier or simply park your car a bit further away and walk.

Listen to music and dance while you do the housework, or jog on the spot while you wait for the kettle to boil! You could even do some squats while the adverts are on TV. Next time you arrange to catch up with a friend, instead of meeting for coffee maybe go for a walk. This all counts towards your 20 Minute Movement!
